We, as a company, have never been satisfied just moving boxes from point A to point B. While every shipment presents its own challenges it still needs special care and attention from pick up to final delivery. Our passion and can do-spirit comes into its own when we are challenged by a customer to “pull a rabbit out of the hat” for him. Throughout our seventeen year history, a month has never gone by when we are presented with a shipment, which requires us to dig deep into our reservoir of knowledge and expertise. Our very first airfreight shipment when we opened our doors in May of 1993 was a twenty-five foot long, eight foot high and wide, eighteen ton packaging machine from Monroe, Louisiana to Adelaide, Australia for Coca Cola Bottling Company. Admittedly with some help from FedEx engineers, we moved the machine without incident door to door in five days flat.
From that shipment, Peter Lamy and his team have thrust themselves into the frontline taking on the impossible and making it possible. Where there is a will, there is a way! Shipment by shipment, we have gained the experience to be confident enough of our abilities to satisfy the customer, no matter what the size, no matter where the destination and no matter how price or time sensitive it may be. We hand carried a first cut DVD of blockbuster movie Man on Fire from the Hollywood production studio to a composer living in outback Australia so she could write the background music. Contrast that to the airfreight of a Bell 427 helicopter from Textron’s plant in Montreal, Canada to Khanty-Mansiysk in Russia!
In February 2009, wild bush fires went out of control in Victoria, Australia. The State Department of Sustainability contracted us to airfreight 500,000kgs of fire retardant from Los Angeles to Melbourne with a four day window for delivery. We met their deadline. Australia now has a DC 10-30 fire fighting machine (10 Tanker) at the ready and it is our job to move all spares on an AOG basis. We are the forwarder of choice for several aircraft parts suppliers and we have handled simple tasks from America to Europe to organizing deliveries to areas of the world, where it is hard to imagine an aircraft could be serviced!
From very humble beginnings five years ago we now service the entire tuna fishing fleet in the Pacific. Be it a part for a “spotter” aircraft or helicopter to a gasket for a Caterpillar powered tuna vessel, or machine part for a tuna factory in Pago Pago, we have now earned the reputation as the tuna fishing industry’s most reliable specialist forwarder. How did we reach this pinnacle of being recognized as a force in handling “must ride” freight? Very simple, by building a small team of experienced and dedicated staff with the can-do spirit together with placing huge emphasis on personal service. It is a 24/7, 365 days per year task and we recognize and at the end of each day we are only as good as how we looked after our last shipment.
